Lisa Philpott
Western University Music Librarian Emerita
London, ON
A long-time Music Reference, Collections, and Instructional Librarian, the reorganization of our library system deployed me to a position on the Teaching & Learning team, with instructional responsibilities for 8 or 9 non-music programs. Two years later, I accepted an early retirement incentive, and traveled to Stockholm to use-up some vacation time, and was very nearly stranded there, as COVID made its presence known! I spent my last 6 weeks of employment working from home, cleaning up dead links in our newly-launched ALMA catalogue. Timing, it seems, *is* everything!
Since retiring, I have chosen (and been encouraged) to participate in RISM by adding link-outs to the Music Library's rare music scores which are hosted on archive.org.
Playing recorder duets has become a new activity, thanks to the pandemic (and my friend's bravery in tackling a woodwind instrument, in addition to organ and brass!). Now that post-pandemic life is beginning to open-up, I am back to singing in 3 choirs, and playing clarinet in the local community orchestra. Cooking, knitting and orchids pretty much round out my life.
