Suzanne Eggleston Lovejoy

Yale University
Music Librarian for Access and Research Services
New Haven, CT
I have been working as a music librarian since 1990, with a brief stint in general reference. I have a Bachelor of Music from Salem College (Winston-Salem, NC); Graduate coursework in Music History and Literature, M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have been a member of MLA since 1990 and working at Yale since 1993. Prior to that I worked at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My primary librarianship interests are in reference, instruction, and special collections. I have recently taken on oversight of our Access Services unit again. Musical & research interests include piano and organ music, ragtime, Cole Porter, Charles Ives, J.Rosamond Johnson, Benny Goodman, and JS Bach. Personal interests include my husband Fred and daughter Hannah, our three English springer spaniels Moose, Happy, and Bonus, feeding and watching songbirds, knitting and needlepoint (although dogs make that a challenge!), reading (mostly literature, biography, history, mystery and detectives), & TV/film. I grew up in Virginia and have a lot of relatives in North Carolina as well, so know those two states very well. Best summer job as a college student was giving tours at Monticello, leading to a long interest in Thomas Jefferson. Learning how to be an antiracist.
