Winston served in a variety of roles at the University of Virginia Music Library for fifteen years before joining the library's Scholarly Communications team in 2021 as Faculty Open Access Librarian. Winston came into librarianship through the side door - no MLIS - but through the shepherding care of a number of MLA mentors. Winston received a BA in Music (Organ Performance) and Classical Studies at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, and pursues continuing bibliographic education in book history at the Rare Book School. Winston is currently serving as Past Chair of the Atlantic Chapter.
